Setting Up Exit Links Using Decipher

This document provides guidelines to setting up the Samplify Unsigned end links on Decipher.

How to Access the Redirect Setup in Decipher​

  1. Go to your survey Build option and click on the Survey Editor.
  2. Click on Respondent Sources (located on the left side).
  3. In the middle of the screen, click the + Add New Participant Source button.

Clicking that button will lead you to the following page:

You can add a custom respondent source to a project to use your own custom sample or sample from a vendor that is not included as one of Decipher’s pre-programmed sample providers. Custom respondent sources can be customized to include any desired URL variables and exit pages.

To add a custom respondent source:

  1. Select Custom Respondent Source.
  2. Click Insert.

After adding a new pre-programmed respondent source, you will be asked whether you would like to remove the Open Survey link to lock the survey.

Removing the Open Survey link will restrict entry to the survey to participants in the new pre-programmed respondent source or any custom respondent sources.

Once the custom respondent source is added, it is displayed in the question tree, and when selected, detailed information for the source will be visible in the staging area.

URL Variables Setup​

Here you will need to define what variables Decipher needs to work with (what will be added to the link by Samplify).

You will set up one custom variable: UID.

  • UID – This is the respondent’s unique identifier.
    It will be a unique alphanumeric value passed onto the survey as a URL parameter.
    The value will be different for each respondent sent into the survey. Samplify needs this variable passed back to us.

To set up your custom variable:

  1. Click on the + Variable button, which will create a placeholder for your custom variable.
  2. The UID should be set up.

Now that this is done, the next step is to set up the redirect links for your newly created sample source.

To do this:

  1. Select your sample source from the Survey Elements menu.
  2. In the middle of the screen, scroll towards the bottom of the page to find the Exit Pages section.

In this section, you’ll have four different exit pages:

  • Complete interviews
  • Terminates
  • Over-Quotas
  • Security Terminate

By default, all of these will be set to Message, and you’ll need to set them to Redirect from the drop-down next to each row.

Once you’ve switched to Redirect, paste the following URLs for each of the different outcomes:

Always test each redirect link before launching to ensure respondents are routed correctly.

By following these steps, you’ll have successfully configured the Samplify Unsigned end links in Decipher, ensuring accurate tracking for completions, terminates, quota-fails, and security terminations.
